The opening ceremony of this workshop was held on 21 March 2019 and was chaired by M. Traoré Sy Martial, Head of the Food Security and Market Division of the AGRHYMET Regional Centre in presence of the members of the regional analysis cell composed of experts from the institutions and agencies members of the Technical Committee of the Cadre Harmonisé (CILSS, FAO, WFP, UNICEF, FEWS NET, RC/UE, GSU/IPC, IFRC, Oxfam, Save the Children, ACF). The results will be used to document the March 2019 PREGEC and April 2019 RPCA consultations.
The overall objective is to produce consensus information on the acute food and nutrition situation in the Sahel and West African countries and Cameroon using the Cadre Harmonisé. More specifically, it is to:
– Organize 18 national CH analysis workshops in CILSS- ECOWAS-UEMOA countries and Cameroon to update areas and estimate populations at risk of acute food and nutrition insecurity for the period March-May 2019 and June-August 2019 ;
– Map the areas identified as food and nutrition insecurity zone;
– Organize a regional meeting to review the quality and consolidate the results of national analyses;
– Develop communication products at country and regional level
